MediaWiki

MediaWiki is a Wiki server software that is written in PHP.

History

MediaWiki was originally written for Wikipedia. Wikipedia had previously used two other wiki engines, (?) and UseMod, so the new software was initially named "Phase III" before it was renamed to MediaWiki alongside the establishment of the Wikimedia Foundation.
